Despite being tired of much of the shenanigans that has (and is) going on, and the disappointment with the current administration (to put it lightly), I still believe in this country, and I believe that it is so great that it can and will overcome. Just watch. We survived the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, we survived the infighting of the Civil War, we survived FDR and all jailing of Japanese-Americans, and we will survive the current stupidity of G.W. Bush as well. But we can not become disillusioned, we can not become disenfranchiesed, we must do our duty and stand up for our democracy. We can not sit back and believe that "it doesn't make a difference" because it certainly does. One Person, One Vote. It is not a right, it is a responsiblity. Do not shirk it, next Tuesday, get out and vote. Set an example. Make a lesson out of it. Make your children proud of the country they live in and the freedoms it affords. And of course... Keep an eye on that Grand Old Flag. |
